FreshPit - Odor Care Tracker
FreshPit is a small daily log for underarm odor care. Each day you can tick off your morning routine, note which deodorant or antiperspirant you used, mark foods such as garlic, meat or alcohol, and in the evening rate how the day went on a five-step scale from Comfortable to Severe.
Most people judge a deodorant from a few memorable days and forget the ordinary ones. A few weeks of quick ratings give a fairer picture: FreshPit turns them into an effect score and ranking for each product you register, a list of foods sorted by the average level on days you ate them, and a weekday pattern.
Everything stays in your browser. There is no account and nothing is uploaded. It is a personal notebook rather than a medical tool, and it works best when you record a little every day.
The app runs entirely in your browser. What you enter is saved only on this device.
How to use FreshPit
- Tick morning care on the Home tab. After your shower or deodorant, tap "Check morning care" on the status card. Each day with morning care or an odor rating extends the consecutive-day counter shown next to it.
- Register your products. Open the Products tab and tap Add. Enter a name, an optional brand, pick a type (spray, roll-on, stick, cream or sheet) and a color so you can tell products apart, then tap Save.
- Log what you used and what you ate. Back on Home, Record Product lets you choose today's product and how many times you reapplied. Record Food lets you mark meat, garlic, alcohol, spicy food, onion, caffeine or junk food.
- Rate the day in the evening. Scroll down Home to Evening Review and tap one of the five faces, from Comfortable to Severe. Today's status card and the week strip update straight away.
- Fill in or fix any day on the calendar. The Record tab shows a monthly calendar. Tap a date to open its detail sheet with care done, product used, reapply count, meals, sleep hours, stress level, exercise, odor level, whether someone pointed out an odor, yellow stains and a memo. Tap Save when done.
- Read the Analysis tab. See this week's average level, your streak, the most effective product, an odor level chart for one week, one month or three months, the cause analysis by food and the day-of-week trend.
- Check a product's detail. Tap a product card to see its effect score, number of uses, odor trend and usage history, or to edit or delete it.

Understanding underarm odor and how to test what works
Where the smell comes from
Fresh sweat has very little smell. The underarms have many apocrine sweat glands, which release a richer secretion containing fats and proteins. Bacteria that live on the skin break these down into volatile compounds, and those compounds are what we notice as body odor. That is why odor builds up over hours, why it is stronger in warm, enclosed areas, and why washing resets it.
How strong it gets varies a lot from person to person and from day to day. Heat, physical effort, stress, the fabric you wear, how long since you washed and what you ate can all shift it a little.
Deodorant or antiperspirant?
They are different products. A deodorant targets the smell: it usually contains antimicrobial ingredients that slow the bacteria down, plus fragrance. An antiperspirant reduces the amount of sweat, typically using aluminum salts that temporarily plug the sweat ducts. Many products combine both.
Antiperspirants are often said to work better when applied at night to clean, dry skin, when sweat glands are quieter. Directions differ, so follow your product's label. Reapplying during the day refreshes a deodorant's scent but adds less to an antiperspirant's effect.
Food and daily habits
Some foods are commonly linked to stronger body odor, especially garlic, onions, heavy meals with a lot of meat, spicy dishes and alcohol. Sulfur compounds from garlic and onion, for example, can be released through skin and breath for some time after a meal. The effect is usually modest and personal, which is why tracking your own days is more useful than general lists.
Stress sweat comes mostly from the apocrine glands, so tense days can smell stronger even without heat. Breathable fabrics such as cotton let moisture escape, while some synthetics hold on to odor even after washing.
Making a fair comparison
To compare products, keep everything else as similar as you can and give each one at least a week or two. Rate at roughly the same time each evening, before your evening shower, so the ratings mean the same thing. One bad day after a garlic-heavy dinner says little; a pattern across many days says more. FreshPit's effect score reflects that by growing toward its full value only after about five rated uses of a product.
If odor changes suddenly, comes with other symptoms, or heavy sweating affects daily life, talk to a doctor or dermatologist. Conditions such as hyperhidrosis are common and treatable.
Frequently asked questions
Where is my data stored?
Only in this browser on this device, in its local storage. There is no account and nothing is sent to a server. Clearing your browser's site data or using a private window removes it, and it does not appear on other devices or browsers.
How is a product's effect score worked out?
FreshPit looks at every day where you marked that product as used and also rated your odor level. It turns the average level into a score (a lower odor level gives a higher score) and scales it down until the product has about five rated uses, so a single good day cannot put a product at the top of the ranking.
What does the cause analysis show?
For each food you have logged, the average odor level on days you ate it, highest first. It is a simple average of your own entries, not proof that a food causes odor.
Can I add a rating for a day I missed?
Yes. Open the Record tab, tap the date in the calendar and fill in the sheet, including the odor level, then tap Save.
How is the web version different from the phone app?
Logging, products, the calendar and the analysis work the same way. The iPhone and Android apps add morning, evening and reapply reminder notifications and an optional upgrade that removes ads. Data does not sync between the web version and the apps.
How do I delete everything?
Open the settings with the gear icon on the Home screen and use Reset Data under Data Management. It removes all records and products after a confirmation and cannot be undone.
Limitations of the web version
- No reminder notifications in the browser (morning care, evening review or reapply)
- Data lives only in this browser and is not backed up or synced
- The effect score and cause analysis are simple averages of your own ratings, not measurements
