CountX - Event Countdown

CountX keeps the dates you are looking forward to, or need to prepare for, in a single list. Add an event, pick its date and, if you like, a time, a category and a short memo, and CountX shows how many days are left. Events within a day show the remaining hours and minutes, updated live.

Upcoming events are listed first, with past events in their own section showing how many days have gone by, which is handy for anniversaries or tracking how long ago something happened. You can sort by date in either direction or by name.

It is useful for birthdays, holidays, exam and project deadlines, weddings, concerts and travel. Everything is kept in your browser with no sign-up.

The app runs entirely in your browser. What you enter is saved only on this device.

How to use CountX

  1. Add an event. Tap Add New Event and type a name of up to 50 characters.
  2. Choose a category. Optionally tap Birthday, Work, Holiday, Travel, Anniversary or Other. The category appears as a small label on the event card.
  3. Set the date and time. Tap Date and Time to pick a day from the calendar. Select Time is optional; add it if the exact hour matters, for example a flight or an exam start.
  4. Add a memo and save. Write an optional memo of up to 200 characters, such as a booking reference or gift idea, then tap Save.
  5. Read the countdown. Each card shows the date and the days remaining. Tap a card to see its details; events in the past show the days elapsed instead.
  6. Edit, delete or sort. Press and hold a card to edit or delete it. Use the sort button at the top to order events by nearest date, latest date or name.

Getting more out of countdowns

Why a countdown helps

A date written in a calendar is easy to overlook until it is suddenly close. Seeing that something is 23 days away makes the time feel concrete and helps you plan backwards: when to book tickets, order a gift, start revising or send invitations. Looking forward to a trip or celebration is also part of the enjoyment, and many people find a visible countdown adds to the anticipation.

Plan with milestones

For big events, add the preparation steps as their own entries. A wedding might include a deadline for sending invitations and a final dress fitting; an exam might include the date you want to finish your first revision round. Seeing several smaller countdowns side by side shows whether your plan is realistic before the main date arrives.

Counting days correctly

Day counts can be confusing. CountX counts complete days between now and the event, so an event tomorrow afternoon may show less than one full day remaining in the morning. If the exact moment matters, set a time; without one, the event uses the time of day when it was created. For birthdays and anniversaries that repeat every year, edit the date to the next year once the day has passed.

Using categories and memos

Categories make a long list easier to scan, and memos keep the small details in one place: a confirmation number, a venue address, a gift idea or the time you need to leave home. Keep memos brief and avoid storing passwords or sensitive personal data there.

Looking back

Past events stay in their own section with the number of days elapsed. This can be a pleasant record of milestones, such as how long you have lived in a new city, been in a job or kept up a habit. Delete the ones you no longer need to keep the list tidy.

Frequently asked questions

Where are my events stored?

In this browser's local storage on your device. There is no account, and nothing is uploaded. Clearing site data removes your events, and they do not sync between browsers or devices.

Will I get a reminder before an event?

No. CountX shows countdowns while you have it open; it does not send notifications.

Do yearly events repeat automatically?

No. After a birthday or anniversary has passed it moves to Past Events. Edit it and set next year's date to count down again.

Why does an event tomorrow show hours instead of days?

When less than a full day remains, CountX shows the remaining hours and minutes. Adding a specific time makes this more precise.

How do I edit or delete an event?

Press and hold the event card, or click and hold with a mouse, and choose edit or delete.

What is different from the phone app?

The countdown features are the same. The iPhone and Android apps show ads that a subscription removes; the web version has no ads or purchases.
